WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION:

Cool Congregations is an innovative program aimed at measuring and lowering the carbon footprints of individual households as well as congregational facilities. One to three people from your congregation are encouraged to attend. In this workshop, you will calculate your own footprint and learn to measure the footprint of others in your congregation. In addition, you will receive multiple resources for energy reduction.

Stay Cool with Solar will provide an overview of financing options for congregations. It will answer the question “How in the world would my congregation pay for solar if we were interested?” Along with the financing overview, there will be a presentation by Homeboy Industries, an organization that works with formerly gang-involved, formerly incarcerated and at-risk youth. From energy audits to choosing solar panels to providing recently trained workers, Homeboy Industries is now in the sustainable energy business!
