Come and get ideas on energy efficiency measures and solar energy from experts in the field. This evening is geared toward houses of worship but applicable to homeowners as well. Representatives from 3 solar companies, So Cal Edison, and Energy Upgrade California will be on hand with helpful information. Berkeley Fellowship of Unitarian Universalists (BFUU) – Hear from cutting-edge organizations working on climate change, engage in lively discussion, get hands-on tools to take action, and enjoy a nourishing low-impact lunch! Presenters include CA Interfaith Power and Light, the Ecology Center, 350.org, Oakland Climate Action Coalition, Transition Towns Albany and Berkeley, Union of Concerned Scientists, and UU Legislative Ministry California. Be part of the growing movement to awaken to the present and to prepare for the future personally and in your household, community, state, country, and planet. Facilitated by the Rev. Earl W. Interfaith Power & Light is inviting faith leaders to give sermons and reflections on global warming the weekend of February 11-13, 2011. Leading up to the event, participating congregations will distribute Valentine’s Day post cards to mail in to their senators, encouraging political leaders to love their neighbors and the earth by supporting policies that protect the climate and curb greenhouse gas emissions.
Promoting Green Pathways out of Poverty: A Solar Richmond Tour for Clergy and Faith Community Members

2010 Energy Oscars, Tuesday November 9, 6pm – 9pm, Grace Cathedral San Francisco: Our 4th Annual Energy Oscars – Awards were given for exemplary congregations in the categories of Green Building, Education, Advocacy and Energy Efficiency and Conservation. And, for the first time, 2010′s awards highlighted an outstanding congregational youth group that is active in the issues of energy and climate change.
NO on PROP 23 Events: CIPL and member congregations hosted local informational event on Prop 23, a deceptive initiative sponsored primarily by fossil fuel companies on the November 2010 ballot.
Electric Vehicle Event, July 28, 2010: This educational event centered around emerging electric vehicle options and was hosted by Sustainable San Rafael. The event included speakers from the SF Electric Vehicle Association, Northbay Nissan, Luscious Garage, and The Bicycle Works speaking about a variety of different electric cars and bikes that have the potential to dramatically reduce Marin’s greenhouse gas emissions by up to 60%.
Creation Groans, July 22, 2010: In coordination with the Marin Interfaith Council, this event spotlighted the Gulf Oil Spill and the need for the faith community to take action. Our founder Rev. Sally Bingham was the keynote, recounting her recent visit to the Gulf and how it underscored the need for people of faith to protect creation by transitioning away from fossil fuels that contribute to climate change and catastrophic oil spills. California Youth Energy Services and New Light Energy Design invited participants to sign up for lighting audits at their congregation as well as home energy and water retrofits for congregants.
Juneteenth Celebration; Grace Tabernacle Church, Bayview-Hunters Point, June 19, 2010: Fast becoming a growing annual celebration, especially in the African-American community, Juneteenth celebrates the end of slavery. And this year, CIPL helped to coordinate a multi-sector accomplishment marked by the installation of a solar panel system on Grace Tabernacle.
