Did you know…
CIPL member congregations have reduced their carbon dioxide emissions by at least 64.5 million pounds since 2002. In 2009 alone, the amount reduced was more than 23 million pounds. That’s the equivalent of 133,943 gallons of gasoline, 2,760 barrels of oil or carbon sequestered annually by 254 acres of forest.
But that’s not the best part. The best part is that this reduction is quantified only from those congregations that have filled out our previous surveys. So the more congregations fill out the 2010 survey, the greater the carbon reduction will be reflected.
Another great thing is that when you fill out the survey, your congregation will be entered to win a $250 Gift Card for ShopIPL, an on-line energy-efficiency products store. It has hundreds of neat items, from the latest LED lights to solar cookers to ceiling fans.
The results of the survey assist us in developing our Annual Emissions Report, which we share with our CIPL network, potential members and state and federal legislators. We not only include emissions reductions in the report; we also highlight outstanding congregations who are leading the charge in energy efficiency, renewable energy, and education and advocacy.
So, please, fill out the ten-minute 2010 CIPL Survey and add your voice to the impressive efforts of the California interfaith community.
